Artwork Selection and Placement

Adding artwork is a great solution for your bare walls!

First rule in selecting art…Fall in love with it.

Art should speak to you and make you happy to look at it.  It shouldn’t necessarily match your throw pillows.  Art is a place to splurge a bit – tell your story.  Or art can create the mood in a space – what do you want to use the room for?  Relaxing? Entertaining?  Let the artwork set the tone.

Now it’s not quite as easy as it sounds…it does need to relate to your space and be the correct size.  Check out this video for tips on choosing and displaying art in your space.

Art should tell us where to look. When you're choosing a piece think of it as a focal feature and be careful not to surround it with any items that might compete with it.

Most importantly, don't skip this step in your design process. The art and accessories are the "jewelry" of a well design room.
