Media Walls Are Back!
Pam and I are just returning from four power packed days scouring the showrooms in High Point, North Carolina. To those familiar with the interior design field – we conquered the ever daunting “market”. Each year, twice a year to be exact, all the major furnishings and accessory companies display their new releases, fabrics, styles, and colors in one location. It’s a great way to get inspired, become aware of the trends and make connections to our always important team of suppliers.
Armed with good comfy shoes and Pam’s itinerary, we saw showrooms of furniture, artwork, rugs, accessories, and lighting. It was a busy, exciting couple of long days. We returned inspired and excited to work some of these new looks into our projects. On the way back, we made our top 10 trend list (of course from our own “ new perspective”) to share on our new blog.
Each week for the next 10 weeks on our blog, we will feature a quick trend update for you – complete with photos.
First up, a "New Perspective" trend on TV/media furniture
You’re not going to believe what is back in vogue... Media walls!
We saw beautiful wood cabinet walls for display of flat panel TVs. Crazy to think they’re back, but we were caught with the beauty of these pieces, let alone the functional storage they provide.
From a Composition Perspective
Not ready for the large wood pieces yet? Let me tell you what they can do from a design standpoint. They create balance in a room. A large case piece usually sits opposite a large seating piece, like a sofa, instantly creating visual balance in a room. A large piece like this can also give weight to the ever growing floating TV’s. Think of it as grounding the big black box.
Not to mention…no visible cords to worry about!
So be on the look out for the large media cabinets.
When building a personal composition you have to consider what your own preference is, what works with the style of your home, and what is happening in the world of design.
We all eventually come around to the long-lasting design styles.
Does this one have longevity?
What do you think?
